The Club

We aim to provide structured coaching and competitive league football for boys, girls, men and ladies from Castle Donington and its surrounding areas from the age of four to the over 40’s veterans age group.

We also run a Soccer School for the youngest members of the club on a Sunday morning.

Club History

Castle Donington Junior Football Club began in 1977 and was the first club to provide junior league football for the village. It began when villager George Smith noticed whilst at work that local Castle Donington boys were playing on the Slack and Parr football pitch, for Kegworth Imps. He felt it was a shame that local boys couldn’t play in and for their own village.

He placed an advert in the NuNews for volunteers to start a team, first time round he found Keith Lycette, second time he found Alan Morgan, who is still a big part of the football club today. The first team to represent CDFC entered the Derby City League which then generated more interest and more teams of different age groups started to form.

The club was proud to receive FA Community status in 2004 by the Football Association. This is the pinnacle of levels that the club can reach. It is awarded to clubs that have a high quality, multi team (minimum of 10 teams) set up with excellent social, training and playing opportunities for all.

Castle Donington FC, after renaming following the successful development of the senior teams, also won the award for Top Charter Standard Club in 2006.

Another area where the club have developed is in girls football. The first team was managed by Wendy Pidcock after her niece requested a girls team. Sonya Lees then took on the role of Girls Football Co-Ordinator encouraging more girls to play now leading to the girls and ladies teams we have now.
